Crank It Up!

Something occurred to me recently- I am in a music rut! I love music- specifically I love worship music... more specifically, I love non-cheesy worship music if I am being honest! Since moving into our new home, I have a morning routine of turning on our IPod with my worship playlist and it just plays all day (when we are home). I think it has been such a positive influence in our home- sure we still watch TV upstairs and we are known to crank Beyoncé at full volume and shake it- but anytime we are in the kitchen or living room- worship. It makes my heart burst when I walk in on one of my girls in the kitchen singing along to a song- just by themselves- every word sweet as can be! I figure, if they get a song stuck in their heads to leave the house with...might as well be worship! I have been stuck in a little "Shane and Shane" rut- I love that they sing scripture, I love that a lot of it is just a guitar and a voice, I love that they don't tell me when to raise my hands (that is a strange issue I have- it is the grown up rebel in me- I can figure out when to raise my own hands, thank you very much!!!) - they are just great- they are always my fav! However, time to branch out! A few weeks ago my sister-in-law's dad was diagnosed with cancer (prayers are welcome for Bill) so I sent her one of my crank it up with the Lord songs- Without You by...none other than..Shane and Shane! For me, that song is just an awesome reminder that we can get through anything and find joy in everything as long as we are in the presence of the Lord- anyway, that started a conversation and she sent me a list of her "turn up" songs- and I was just revived when I went to listen to them. It was like a breath of fresh worship hit our home. I am not good at staying on top of "the music scene" and we do not attend a church that is on the cutting edge (sadly) therefore, I have just been missing out! SO...it occurred to me that some of you might not have discovered these awesome artists/songs and you could use a breath of fresh worship as well! I am going to share some of my favorites and some of her favorites. If you have favorites- please share, there is nothing like a new delightful song you can crank up with the Lord!

New International Version (NIV)
16 But whenever anyone turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away. 17 Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. 18 And we all, who with unveiled faces contemplate the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his image with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.

  1. This is Kasie, Teresa Kreul's daughter. My mom has told me for months about how much we remind her of eachother (it all started when my son was born and we were implementing Babywise). She got me hooked on your blog :), so every once in a while I check in. I had to comment on this post today, because Shane and Shane are my very favorite artists too! Psalms is my all time favorite album! I'm going to download some if the songs from the playlist you listed, and I'm sure to love several of those as well! :). Hope to meet you some day when I'm visiting KC. We'll do a moms and daughters and kids get together!! Ha!

  3. Love this post; thanks for sharing your list!

My new favorite is Gateway Worship's "Forever Yours." The whole CD is wonderful, but the title track is a must have. Disclaimer: The song does say, "to You my hands I raise." :) BUT it's not really telling you to lift your hands right then. ;) http://gatewayworship.com/album/forever-yours

Thanks again for sending, I am excited to listen! Have a great night!
